I need to talk about this… my sister became schizophrenic at around 24 years old. We were at my grandmother’s funeral and she was seeing signs everywhere and everything had a spiritual significance or message. I didn’t know what schizophrenia was at the time so I believed her and honestly thought she was having a spiritual awakening (but I didn’t really know what that was either), I just believed her and went along with her. On the way back from my grammas funeral we kept getting lost and kept ending up on this same highway like 5 or 6 times the same highway passing a huge light up cross so naturally she and I assumed it was god and we should just go where the car takes us… (true story), so we ended up at a park with a creek. I pulled up to it and said now what, and she said we’re here to get baptized… she led me into the creek and sort of baptized me. She was scooping up the water with her hands and was pouring it over our heads!!!
There are a bunch of unbelievable things that happened to us that weekend (before she got diagnosed as schizophrenic).
Fast forward 28 years… I’m experiencing a spiritual awakening of my own. I am also a diagnosed bipolar with psychosis from time to time but never audio or visual hallucinations. Only paranoia and let’s just say a very creative mind. I always said that “I believe my psychosis is truthfulness, and who’s to say I’m not seeing a parallel universe or maybe what’s really going on behind the scenes”.
This time I know without a doubt that everything I’m realizing is real because I am still in a rational state of mind and I am researching and finding that there are other people experiencing the exact experience with the exact information being presented!!!
So tonight (the same night I’m writing this post) I realized that my sister was in fact have a sudden and intense spiritual awakening. She didn’t have a strong sense of self and sadly she got stuck in fear and psychosis, medicated and stigmatized and tortured her entire damn life!! I feel so horrible right now and I wish I knew what to do to help her but I honestly don’t think I can.
I’m still currently going through this awakening… I’m gathering up tons of information and trying to not scare my son bc he already thinks I’m in psychosis (I’m not).
Thank you for reading!
Love Susie T.
